From the start of the decade until 2007 I worked solely as a music photographer, shooting for magazines, record companies and unsigned bands. I documented everyone from huge international acts to new bands. Although successful at this I constantly found myself unsure if the typical music photographer role was right for me. By 2008 I had grown increasingly uncomfortable with my job as I finally realised how little music photography actually has to do with music. I was not always getting the connection, time or access with musicians that I craved. The majority of my live and press shoots had gotten a little too cold and predictable as I started to lose the passion for it.
